Good locations for flying hot air balloons in the Dayton area are Centerville, Kettering, Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Springboro, West Carrollton, and Miamisburg. Flights can also be conducted in the Xenia and Springfield, Ohio area. We often use the Dayton Wright Brothers Airport on the Miamisburg / Springboro boarder along SR 741 (Springboro Pike). Near Dayton, Ohio, hot air balloon rides are best conducted south and/or east of metropolitan Dayton. This keeps our hot air balloons out of Dayton airport airspace, and away from Downtown Dayton where landing spots for balloons are scarce.
Hot air balloon rides in Warren County, Ohio offer beautiful scenery for passengers. The Little Miami River and the communities surrounding the area are full of wildlife, trees and open fields. Deer are a very common and expected site while flying hot air balloons in these Warren County areas, including Lebanon, Mason, Springboro and Waynesville. Flights over the Kings Island area are always exciting.
Unlike most other aircraft, hot air balloons do not require the use of a traditional airport. In fact, they often avoid airports to stay clear of other air traffic. Hot air balloons often use school and church yards, as well as public parks to launch and land. At Air Time Ballooning, we try to stay clear of heavily populated areas, where these types of clearings are not as common.
